Neuro-Oncology (brain tumors)

Neuro-oncology focuses on tumors of the brain and the central nervous system. Though brain tumors account for a tiny proportion of all new cancers (1.5 percent in Minnesota), they have a high death rate. Our Neuro-Oncology Care Program treats patients with a broad spectrum of benign, malignant, and metastatic tumors of the brain and nervous system.
Our multidisciplinary team works closely with patients and their families to better understand their specific conditions and available treatment options so they can make informed decisions. In addition to conventional approaches to surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, we offer innovative treatment technologies, including Gamma KnifeŽ stereotactic radiosurgery, a non-invasive alternative to standard neurosurgery. The wide range of treatment options available at the University of Minnesota Physicians means more individualized care for our patients.
